The mission of GMP is to facilitate the growth of Pickleball within the Surface Creek Valley, Delta County and the surrounding region for the enjoyment, health and social engagement of all players. We are dedicated to offering organized recreational and competitive play, instruction and education, thereby ensuring opportunities for the continued development of all member players in a collegial and sportsmanlike environment. GMP will continue to explore options for expanding facilities as needed.

In the fall of 2015, a group of Cedaredge residents introduced pickleball to the community at the Town courts. With a donated net from Rich and Betty Garrett and volunteers who taught the game, 19 people organized as Grand Mesa Picklers by November 2015. The club grew steadily purchasing equipment, working with the Town on court improvements, and expanding membership to over 120 players over the next six years.
In late 2022, GMP secured use of three pickleball courts at the New Hope Church gymnasium, which required formal incorporation and liability insurance. GMP filed Articles of Incorporation as a 501(c)(7) in early 2023, establishing yearly dues to cover facility costs, insurance, and equipment.
In late 2023, to better pursue grants and larger donations for new court facilities, Grand Mesa Picklers dissolved and Grand Mesa Pickleball Foundation was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, doing business as Grand Mesa Pickleball.
GMP formed a 501(c)(3) on September 20, 2023, to be eligible to receive grants and donations from individuals, corporations and foundations. Donors can receive tax deductions for their contributions, which is a significant incentive for individuals and businesses to support GMP. We are currently raising funds for new pickleball courts in the Surface Creek Valley.

We collect names, addresses, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and emergency contact information as well as other information from time to time. This Membership Directory is necessary for managing club activities, sharing relevant information and being able to address any emergency situations when a member requires medical assistance while playing.
The GMP Board has set a policy whereby e-mails going out to the entire group must be vetted and disbursed through a Board member. Information to be disbursed should be directly related to GMP activities and business, and general pickleball information relevant to members. Members who have relevant pickleball information they feel might be beneficial to the entire group should email that information to one of the Board members listed on the About Us page of this website where it can be vetted.
